The Liver
Most of us are aware that drinking too much alcohol can have a bad affect on the Liver and that certain diseases like Hepatitis and Jaundice, also affect the Liver. But what if, you have none of these problems..........if, you are completely unaware of your Liver doing anything much at all? Can you assume its doing ok? We know the Liver regenerates itself at an alarming rate, so thats got to be good, right? However, like the whole of our body and all of our organs, the Liver relates to our emotions and the emotion directly relating to the Liver is 'Happiness'
Symptoms
Do you experience any of the following?
mood swings - up one day, down the next (or even in the same day)
lethargy/ confusion/ heaviness
headache/dull head/brain fog
anger/irritability/intolerance
nervousness/anxiety/tension
intolerance to medication/food
If you use natural supplements or prescribed medication or even Paracetamol - do you often feel worse or have a reaction?
Do you find, whatever you do to 'self help', you can never seem to get anywhere?
Your Liver may be the answer!
Lets dig a bit deeper
The Bio-Functional level
Every time we take a supplement or conventional medication, it has to be broken down in the Liver and converted into various chemical constituents. As part of this process, other components/chemicals have to be produced and added to the mix to form other chemicals, which can then go on to be used or recycled in the body. This whole process needs enzymes either to break down or other enzymes to build up and this goes on daily on a fully automated system - very clever, but sometimes it doesn't - sometimes there is a halt in the machinery and complete metabolic process, does not take place - so there you are, with substances half detoxed...........THIS is where you start to feel any of those symptoms - these substances are called 'Metabolites' and leave you feeling pretty rough sometimes.
The Irritability Factor
Feeling crabby and argumentative, irritable with people, things, anything! you name it - you find fault, dissatisfaction...........if its not PMT's, it could be your Liver. If your Liver is full up with chemicals that cant be moved on quickly enough for whatever reason..........you are going to know about it. So, if you already have a problem and you use more chemicals to fix it - you can see why it may not fix it and you could just feel worse.
The body also daily manufactures its own chemicals, called endogenous chemicals, eg Hormones, Neurotransmitters. These are what it needs to complete the day to day running of its system - without these chemicals, our whole body would grind to a halt. If however, they are produced, but somehow cant get through properly - e.g. the Liver cannot complete detox function (because ALL chemicals have to pass through the Liver) - then again we start to see a deterioration of body function, firstly maybe in tiny ways.
Orthodox Medicine
A lot of Orthodox Medicine today, whether prescribed, or bought off the shelf, works by acting on the body, often through the Liver, to STOP something happening, eg pain, inflammation - so it works against our body's natural function
Sometimes medication will target an Enzyme or Co-Enzyme to prevent breakdown, in order to encourage a build-up, e.g. anti-depressants - to build up Serotonin, which in turn creates Happiness and a sense of well-being. This is often why side effects ensue, because things are working against our natural body function.
So in general, anything with a prefix of 'anti' in front of a word, we know, is going to stop something happening, e.g. anti-inflammatory, anti-biotic and anything with a 'pro' prefix, will work with the body, enhancing its potential.
If the body, via the Liver, is stopped from performing a function, it will show up as a negative symptom - even if the initial reason for medication goes away.
If an Enzyme is targeted, via medication to be in-activated or 'switched off', you will see an indication or experience a malfunction in your system.
All our Enzymes must perform in order for us to function perfectly.
Yet sometimes, the medication seems invaluable and the only answer at the time eg.
Antibiotics for infection, Warfarin for Blood Clots/DVT
This is because, its all we know, the only answer we have ever been given - its tried and trusted. Its a mine field otherwise. Who do we trust? How do we know what to do? Plus its just plain hard work trying to find an alternative solution..........and why should you, when everything is sort of working anyway?
Because, the energy your body uses as a result of going against the flow in order to maintain an equilibrium, is far greater than if you were going with the flow; just like swimming up river.
