The need to be right is a biggy - we can argue & argue & get self-righteous, confrontational, stubborn, angry - it motivates us, & when we feel we've 'won' an argument, or persuaded someone to admire our point of view - we glow with satisfaction & when we don't, we burn with anger & fire & resentment. Being right, recognised, validated, admired, respected for our opinions & thinking, taps into our core being of self-worth & self esteem - our ego.....& it gets in the way - it colours everything, because it's about judging or being judged - nobody likes it & yet everybody does it. Why would we rather judge someone & feel angry with them, rather than just let it go? Anger eats away at us & makes us feel unhappy. To truely let go of anger, to not care what someone else thinks will empower you in a way that 'being right' never will. Needing to be right only reinforces your image of how other people see you - when you can truely accept yourself, nothing can touch you, your inner flame will not flicker, you will no longer need to be right.
.....but then again....why take my word for it....
